Detroit native, Melody - aka "The Soul Butterfly," is not your typical vocalist, she's also a 2009 Stellar Music Award Nominee for New Artist of the Year and the 2008 WAMMIE (Washington Area Music Association) Winner for Best Female Gospel/Inspirational Recording for her multi-genre debut project , "The Reason." On her first full studio recording, Melody wrote and co-produced all but one song. As a multi-talented singer, songwriter and stage performer, Melody has done just what she was taught by her mother to do at a young age - "embrace, love, and nurture the universal gift that is Music!" She has done that and More! Plus, being born with a name like "Melody"  in a city known for its music pioneers and legends... it is no wonder she was poised to become one of the most versatile vocalists in the Greater Washington, DC Metropolitan area! She considers herself a multi-genre vocalist;  and can be found performing a myriad of styles in various settings from Soul, Gospel, R&B , Pop to Jazz (and even a little bit of country)!

First Things First... and education was definitely first and foremost in her home. Therefore, choosing between an early entertainment career and college was not an option! Melody, chose to pursue her Bachelor Degree ( the first for her family ) in Communications & Theater Arts from Eastern Michigan University with an emphasis in Public Relations. During her matriculation, she joined the famed EMU Gospel Choir. While a member of the choir, she quickly became one of the lead vocalists and was afforded the opportunity to tour and perform backup for several world   renowned national and international Gospel and Contemporary Christian recording artists.

As a startup solo artist, Melody performed session work to gain studio experience and pay the bills! She never imagined that one day, her first recording project would allow her to become one of the first Independent New Artists to perform and be televised from the Landmark Grand Ole Opry stage!  Melody has not only been afforded the opportunity to perform before and share the stage with such notable entertainers as the legendary Dionne Warwick, comedian Sinbad, Regina Belle, actress Sheryl Lee Ralph, The Clark Sisters, Heather Headley and a host of others; she (along with Signature Live Band) performed for the All American Inaugural Ball for former President Barack Obama in Washington, DC.  Melody's also no stranger to the theater stage; performing in several noted musical/ theater productions, which included appearances at Washington, DC's historic Lincoln Theater and Maryland's celebrated Publick Playhouse.

Not only known as a virtuoso lead vocalist, Melody has been sought out by many artists, bands and recording studios to add her incredible ear and sweet melodic tones to their harmonies.  As she expands her musical repertoire and continues to add an ever growing fan base, Melody can be found regularly performing as a featured singer with Dbest Live and and other noted musicians at various popular establishments and entertainment venues throughout the Washington Metropolitan area.  Melody has been found gracing the stages of The Kennedy Center, Washington National Mall, Jefferson Memorial, Half Note Lounge, (the former Channel Inn), Jo Jo's Restaurant/Bar and a host of others. Most recently, Melody's talent and vocal skills allowed her to land a spot on the stage of the legendary Howard Theater and at the illustrious Caryle Club.  Her style and vocal versatility are unparalleled -  which is undoubtedly why this vocal "dynamo" has  been affectionately referred to as ..."The Voice!"
